That’s it!
That’s the full Armor of God, as per Paul in his letter to the church in Ephesus.
So, what now?
Put on the Armor of God!
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 NAS
Wear it!
I’ll share some of my practices …
First, I put on the Armor of God.
Actually, I did this years ago. “Once and done!”
Now, I regularly affirm that I wear the Armor of God.
I don’t need to put it on over and over – I affirm that I wear it all the time!
8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9 NAS
The spiritual battle begins when we accept Jesus as our Savior. satan doesn’t bother anyone who is worldly – of the world – that one already his; for he is the prince of the world.
1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Ephesians 2:1.2 NAS
But when you believe and profess Jesus as your Savior, and begin to follow Him, the devil takes notice. You appear on his “believer-dar.” The battle for your (eternal) life begins.
14 “I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 “I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. 16 “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. John 17:14-16 NAS
As a personal memory device, I affirm the Whole Armor of God, starting at the top and working down, and then to the shield and the sword.
The Helmet of Salvation
“I affirm I wear the Helmet of Salvation. I am saved only through the power of Yeshua, the Messiah.
17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:17 NAS
“The Helmet of Salvation protects my intellect, my mind, from negative thinking, deceptions, and lies of the evil one.
44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44 NAS
“The Helmet of Salvation protects my thoughts and assists as I am transformed by the renewing of [my] mind. (Romans 12:2 NAS)
“In addition, I ask for the continued balance of my brain chemicals so my mental health is maintained.”
The Breastplate of Righteousness
“I affirm I wear the Breastplate of Righteousness. My only righteousness is the through the righteousness of Christ. I am not righteous on my own.
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 NAS
“The Breastplate of Righteousness protects my heart and my emotions.
“While my feelings are real in that I feel what I feel, I know that feelings can lie. Feelings can be untrue. Feelings do not always reflect the common reality I share with other people.”
The Belt of Truth
“I affirm I wear the Belt of Truth. Jesus is the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through [Him]. (John 14:6 NAS)
“Let Your Truth be before me, and behind me.”
“Let Your Truth be to the left of me, and to the right of me.”
“Let Your Truth be above me, and below me.”
“Let Your Truth be all around me, and within me.”
When affirming wearing the Belt of Truth, ask to ever:
- Seek Truth
- See Truth
- Speak Truth (in love!)
- Walk in Truth
The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
“I affirm I wear the Shoes of the Gospel of Peace.
27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. John 14:27 NAS
“I stand wearing the Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, as if I am in the eye of a hurricane.
“When I look around, I may see chaos and destruction swirling in the hurricane wall (the world) all around me.
“Yet, here in the eye of a hurricane it’s calm; there is no wind. I am at peace in all circumstances.
“When I look up, the sky overhead is blue. The sun shines. Heaven is open and I see the glory of YeHoVaH!
“Yes, I will stay in the eye of the storm. I abide in Yeshua. I live in the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit lives in me.
“Yes, I will live in the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension (Philippians 4:7) because I am standing firmly, safely, on the Rock – the Rock of my Salvation (Psalm 89:26).”
The Shield of Faith
“As God has allotted to each a measure of faith (Romans 12:3), so I affirm I carry the Shield of Faith.
“As the apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’ (Luke 17:5) so I ask that my faith may grow ever longer, ever wider, ever taller, ever thicker, and be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:16).”
The Sword of the Spirit, The Word of God
“I affirm I carry the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
“May the Word of God be ever written on my heart (Hebrews 10:16, Jeremiah 31:33)
“May the Spirit of Truth … guide [me] into all the truth (John 16:13)
“May I use the Word of God only against the enemies of God.
“May I never use the Word of God as a weapon against a fellow child of God.”
Prayer
“O God, help me pray. Help me pray as Jesus and Paul taught:
1 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1 NAS
16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NAS
“In the Name of Yeshua.
“Amen.”
I had thought this would be the end of this series.
Then …
26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26 NAS
I had forgotten the most important part of life in the Kingdom and witness to the world:
Life in Victory!
